MAGNOLIA, Miss. — Authorities say a 17-year-old boy is accused of fatally shooting his stepfather in Mississippi.

WAPT-TV reports the teenager fatally shot 42-year-old Chris Rosenquist at a home near Magnolia on Wednesday. Authorities say the teenager’s mother also told police that her son fatally shot her husband.

Pike County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Chris Bell says the initial appearance of the scene indicated that Rosenquist had been shot several times with a high-powered assault rifle.

Authorities are trying to determine a motive for the shooting and an investigation is ongoing.

It’s unclear what the teenager has been charged with or if he has a lawyer.
