Murrel Trapp, 96, of Seymour, passed away at home on Thursday, September 28, 2017, with his family at his side.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran in the European Theater.

He farmed and also worked at Cosco Industries in Columbus and retired from Seymour Housewares.

He was a lifetime member of Post 1925 VFW, American Legion Post 89, and a charter member of the Seymour Moose as well as a member of Silver Sneakers.

He was born August 19, 1921, in Illinois, to the late Fred and Verna Trapp.

He lived in Jackson County most of his life.

He was married to Lorene M. Darlage, and she preceded him in death.

He will be missed by Marge Brady, companion of 26 years; five children, Gary (Karen) McDonald, LaDonna (George) Mize, Steven (Lucy) Trapp, Lowell Trapp and Marcia (Jim) Trapp; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He will also be missed by sisters Carol Clark and Phyllis Burke; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Ernest, Ermil and Donald Trapp, and sisters, Ferry Trapp, Fern Russel, Marge Ritz and Vivian Smith.

Funeral services will be at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Monday, October 2, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. and on Monday, after 9 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be written to Schneck Hospice or American Heart Association, in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
