Carrico Furniture owners Phyllis Stahl and John Beach announced plans to close the store, one of the city’s oldest retailers, at the end of the year.


A crowd watched Air Force Two touch down within sight of the tents of 312 exhibitors on the 60-acre Farm Progress Show site as Vice President Dan Quayle arrived in Columbus for a private fundraiser.


Upon recommendation of the district office of the state highway department, the mayor endorsed a proposal to reduce speed limits on State Road 46 West through the Interstate 65 interchange area.
