Driver flips car near pond

A local man was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated — endangerment after he was accused of flipping his vehicle near the pond in Mill Race Park.

Officers were sent to the crash just before 6 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.

When they arrived, they found a 2007 Cadillac CTS that had overturned and was partially hanging over the pond, Harris said.

Officers spoke with the driver, Anthony L. Oliver, 22, of 950 Cottonwood Drive, and suspected he was intoxicated, Harris said.

After failing several field sobriety exercises, Oliver was taken to the Columbus Police Department for a breath test, where he tested at .08 percent, Harris said. He was then taken to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was later released after posting $5,000 bond, jail officials said.
