BATON ROUGE, La. — Fire officials say a woman was found dead in a house fire in Louisiana.

News outlets report a 50-year-old woman was found dead in a house fire Monday night.

WBRZ-TV reports that officials confirmed the woman was overcome by smoke produced by the fire and was dead when investigators arrived. Baton Rouge Fire Department spokesman Mark Miles says the woman was the only person inside the house.

Miles says the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and arson is being examined as a possible cause. Further information has not been released.
