The former Lear Corp. factory in Edinburgh, the town’s largest employer and a mainstay since before World War II, announced plans to close in the second quarter of 2008 to reduce excess capacity, a decision that eliminated about 400 jobs.

1992

The East Columbus Volunteer Fire Department celebrated its 50th anniversary with an open house at the fire station, which highlighted new equipment and programs and featured memorabilia from the department’s past.

1967

Plans were made by the board of the Bartholomew Consolidated Schools to purchase a new school bus to relieve overloaded buses on routes in the Taylorsville school district of German township.
