NEWARK, N.J. — The owner of a consulting services company has pleaded guilty to tax evasion.

Federal prosecutors say Oscar James Sr. entered his plea Tuesday. He faces up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced Jan. 11.

The 60-year-old West Orange man owns The James Group. He intentionally under-reported the income he received for tax years 2008 and 2009 by filing false federal personal income tax returns.

James admitted that he was responsible for underreporting $173,796 in income for the 2009 tax year. That resulted in a tax loss of $61,046.
