NEW YORK — A badly injured deer terrified customers at a Staten Island neighborhood clothing store after the animal barged in and became trapped inside while slamming itself against windows and walls.

The deer was heavily bleeding at the time, smearing blood all over the store during the Monday afternoon event. The Staten Island Advance reports (http://bit.ly/2hJtVis ) customers and workers called 911, and then ran into backrooms to protect themselves.

Employees say the animal was inside the store for nearly an hour before officials arrived to remove it. Blood was visible on the store’s mirrors, walls and carpet after the deer was removed.
