About 600 area residents raised $99,200 at Sunday’s Columbus Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The event, a 1-mile walk at Mill Race Park, was conducted to raise money to fund Alzeimer’s care, support and research programs.
Keepsake Keepers received the Top Corporate Team Award, raising $3,254, and Grandpa’s Gang won the Top Community Team Award, raising more than $7,600.
To date, the participants have raised 81 percent of the Alzheimer’s Association goal to raise $123,000 from the walk.
“The community really came together, showing tremendous support for the cause,” said Kyle Davern, development specialist for the association’s Greater Indiana Chapter. “It was a beautiful day to remember those we’ve lost and support those living with this disease.”
