ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. — The search for a Vermont town’s police chief is down to two candidates.

The Caledonian Record reports Senior Ofc. Scott Keene with the Stowe Police Department and retired Detective Sgt. Tim Page of the Vermont State Police are vying to be St. Johnsbury’s next police chief.

Page says he wants another challenge, and he would focus on team building and professionalism within the department. He currently serves with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Keene was unavailable for comment. He served as a patrolman with the Norwell Police Department in Massachusetts before retiring in 2016.

Officials say they will interview the candidates for the second time in the upcoming weeks.

Former Chief Clem Houde resigned in June after he faced accusations of exchanging inappropriate text messages with a female subordinate.
