BRANFORD, Conn. — An 81-year-old man has been arrested in Connecticut charges that he tried to stab his wife.

Branford Police say they were called to Anthony Delucia’s home early Thursday by neighbors. When officers arrived, police say they found Delucia struggling on the ground with his 74-year-old wife and trying to stab her with a kitchen knife.

An officer subdued Delucia, and he was taken into custody on charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, second-degree assault on an elderly victim and breach of peace.

His wife was treated by paramedics for cuts to her hands and taken to a hospital.

Delucia was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Superior Court in New Haven.

He was in custody and it was not immediately known whether he had a lawyer.
