BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Authorities say partially skeletonized remains found in Alabama have been identified as a 34-year-old woman.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told AL.com on Friday that Shakinna Abrams was identified through fingerprints. Abrams lived at the Birmingham apartment complex where her body was discovered decomposing in the woods Wednesday morning.

Birmingham police say the incident is being investigated as a possible homicide but are awaiting results from an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
