NEW CITY, N.Y. — A prosecutor says a driver who consumed an “incredibly high amount” of prescription drugs has pleaded guilty in the deaths of a suburban New York couple.

Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe (ZOO’-gih-bee) says 24-year-old Matthew Sindone of Nanuet (nan-yoo-EHT’) faces four to 12 years in prison when he’s sentenced on Jan. 10.

Sindone has pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicular homicide in the June deaths of New City residents Aline (uh-LEEN’) and Neil Block.

Authorities say the defendant ran a red light and plowed into them after abusing anti-anxiety drugs.
