QUAKERTOWN, Pa. — State police say a woman made up a report that she was abducted by two men from a fishing pier at a Pennsylvania state park and raped.

State police announced Thursday that the incident at Nockamixon State Park never occurred.

Police didn’t immediately say why the woman made up the report, or whether she’ll face criminal charges for doing so. Police say there is no threat to the public.

The woman told police she was at the pier on Lake Nockamixon on Monday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. when the men grabbed her and forced her into a small sedan, possibly a Honda Civic. The woman tells police she was taken to another area of the park and sexually assaulted.
