VOLLEYBALL

Rebels sweep East

Columbus East came close in the third set Thursday night, but dropped a 25-15, 25-15, 25-23 decision to Roncalli.

Kendal Williams led the Olympians (8-21) with 19 assists, a block and three aces. Allison Mack pounded 11 kills, C.J. Clausen had a block and Emily Banister notched 13 digs.

Rilee Jessee added seven kills, Mack tallied 12 digs and two aces.

Jets fall to Cougars

GREENFIELD — Class A No. Hauser saw its nine-game winning streak come to an end in a 25-21, 25-20, 25-22 loss at 4A Greenfield-Central.

Sydney Schoen recorded 12 kills and 18 digs, and Alana Owen had 25 assists and two blocks to lead the Jets (26-4). Sarah Tedder and Kylie Lock each served two aces.

Madie Sherman pounded seven kills and two blocks. Hannah Johnson added five kills, Taylor Henderson had one block, Tedder notched 10 digs and Owen contributed eight digs and one ace.

Arrows edge Eagles

SULLIVAN — Brown County went the distance in the Western Indiana Conference third-place match before falling 25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 15-25, 15-13 at Sullivan.

The Cougars fell to 15-8

South Decatur wins

OSGOOD — South Decatur overcame a first-set loss to rally for a 15-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-18 win at Jac-Cen-Del.

Claire Wullenweber pounded nine kills, Taylor Best recorded 21 assists, Sam Goodfellow had five blocks, Karah Biddinger notched 27 digs and Kayla Carder served three aces to lead the Cougars (7-23).

Goodfellow and Madison Owens each added eight kills. Owens had four blocks, and Zoey Nobbe tallied 13 digs.

Trinity falls in three

Class A Trinity Lutheran traveled to 4A Floyd Central and took a 25-12, 25-9, 25-21 loss.

Abby Hackman and Hannah Sabotin each pounded three kills for the Cougars (17-12), while Bailey Reynolds added two. Reynolds and Courtney Barker each served an ace.

Trinity advances to final

CLARKSVILLE — Chloe Criswell scored midway through the first half of overtime to give Trinity Lutheran a 2-1 win against Southwestern (Hanover) in the semifinals of the Providence Sectional.

The Cougars (7-7-1) took an early lead when Sidney Hoene scored off an assist from Flossie Cooper in the fifth minute. Savanna Setty assisted on Criswell’s goal.

Trinity outshot the Rebels 18-7. Vidalis Montanez posted two saves.

Eagles fall in overtime

WEST TERRE HAUTE — Edgewood scored goals in each half of overtime to hand Brown County a 3-1 loss in the semifinals of the West Vigo Sectional.

Senior Elizabeth Moore scored her first career goal in the third minute to give the Eagles (6-11-1) an early lead. But the Mustangs tied it in the 77th minute to force overtime.

Both teams finished with eight shots. Skylar Fleischman recorded five saves for Brown County.
