NORFORK, Ark. — Authorities say an Arkansas man has drowned after the boat he was in flipped on the White River in northern Arkansas.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says 47-year-old John Webb of Mountain View died in the accident near the unincorporated community of Buffalo City.

Montgomery says Webb and another man were boating when the boat overturned about 1 p.m. Friday.

Montgomery says the second man managed to reach shore safely and was rescued.

The sheriff says Webb’s body was spotted in rolling water about 1:45 p.m. and was pulled from the water about 50 minutes later.
