PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a tow truck driver is dead after being shot during a confrontation with another person while the driver was removing a vehicle from an apartment complex.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says the suspect left the area following the shooting Friday night and remains at large.

The victim’s identity wasn’t released and Howard says he can’t immediately release additional information about the circumstances of the incident, including whether the vehicle being removed belonged to the suspect.

Howard says police would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
