MONTPELIER, Vt. — The top criminal prosecutor in the Vermont attorney general’s office is going to become a Superior Court judge.

The appointment of John Treadwell was announced Friday by Republican Gov. Phil Scott. Scott also appointed Frederick Glover as the probate judge for Windsor County.

Scott picked Treadwell from a pool of candidates put forward by the Judicial Nominating Board. Treadwell has been chief of the attorney general’s criminal division since 2014.

Glover is a general practice attorney with nearly three decades of legal experience. He will serve as a probate judge for Windsor County. He will replace Judge Joanne Ertel, a Democrat, who is set to retire.

Glover was selected from a group of nominees put forward by the Windsor County Democratic Committee.
