Woman arrested after gas station disturbance

A local woman was arrested after she was reportedly attempting to steal items from a gas station and was destroying store displays.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Deputy Brent Worman was sent to the Circle K in the 10000 block of North U.S. 31 at 10:36 p.m. Friday about a female creating a disturbance, deputies said. She was identified as Dessirae Loreal Jonesike Streeter, 22, of 1931 Timbercrest Drive.

When Worman arrived, he saw Streeter standing in the lobby of a nearby Burger King, deputies said. The woman agreed to return to Circle K, and Worman asked her to stay away from her purse, which she put on the floor, covering it with a piece of cloth, deputies said.

A deputy arrived with K-9 Diesel, and the dog alerted to drugs in Streeter’s purse, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies found a bag containing a green, leafy substance they identified as marijuana, deputies said. Deputies also found a clear glass pipe with burn marks and white residue and a blue pipe with burned residue and a green leafy substance, deputies said.

Deputies also found two yellow pills that Streeter identified as Xanax, a small baggie containing a white, powdery substance, methamphetamine, an electronic cigarette with a wax-like substance inside, a small glass jar with marijuana leaves on the sticker and a wax-like substance that had an odor of marijuana, according to the sheriff’s department.

They also found a metal grinder with “Desi” written on it and a “D” on the top of it, deputies said.

Streeter was arrested on preliminary charges of:

  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of marijuana
  • Criminal mischief
  • Disorderly conduct
