SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Police say they’ve charged two men in the shooting deaths of two other men whose bodies were found inside a Syracuse apartment last month.

Syracuse police officials announced Thursday that 33-year-old Rene DeJesus, of Manhattan, was tracked down in New York City Wednesday by U.S. Marshals and the New York Police Department. Officials say that detectives arrested 26-year-old Brian Montanez, of Syracuse, on Thursday.

DeJesus has been charged with first-degree murder, while Montanez was charged with second-degree murder.

The charges stem from the fatal shootings of 31-year-old Arturo Resto Figueroa, of Oklahoma, and 39-year-old Jose Castro, of Syracuse. Police say the victims slain Sept. 25 during an attempted robbery.

It couldn’t be learned from prosecutors if DeJesus or Montanez have lawyers.
