PHOENIX — Police have identified a man who died after being shot in west Phoenix with another victim who remains hospitalized in critical condition.

They say 25-year-old Bryan Herberger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police haven’t released the name of the other wounded man, but say he’s expected to survive.

They say investigators are looking at a possible connection to drug activity as a motive for the shooting that occurred about 10 a.m. Monday.

Police say a third party was attempting to drive the victims to a hospital when they stopped and called 911 as the injuries were too severe to continue.

According to police, the men were shot at another location and then driven to a parking lot at 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road.
