Woman dies in Jennings crash

A 49-year-old woman died in a wreck early Monday morning in Jennings County leaving a Seymour woman hospitalized with serious injuries at an Indianapolis hospital.

Four other people sustained injuries in the crash that led to the death of Angela M. Abston of St. Paul and resulted in 51-year-old Christean M. Price being flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, according to a report from the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles.

Abston, who was traveling alone, was driving a 2002 Toyota Sienna minivan west on State Road 750, east of County Road 200N, ISP Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said.

The wreck occurred when a 2012 Ford van being driven east by Price crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and hit Abston’s minivan, which left the north side of the road before coming to a stop, according to Wheeles, the post’s public information officer.

Price’s vehicle overturned and came to rest in the middle of the road. She was treated at the scene by Rescue 20 and flown to Indianapolis. Four people in her minivan were treated for minor injuries by Rescue 20 before being taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon for treatment.

State Road 750 was closed for nearly four hours while an Indiana State Police reconstruction team conducted an investigation and the wreck debris was cleaned up.

Others assisting with the investigation and cleanup include officers with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and North Vernon Police Department.
