ORLANDO, Fla. — A 15-year-old boy is dead and his 17-year-old acquaintance is recovering from injuries suffered when gunfire erupted during a fight in a Florida neighborhood.

Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Ingrid Tejada-Monforte tells local news outlets that the shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

She says authorities don’t know why the boys were fighting. The injured teen didn’t cooperate with investigators at first, but Tejada-Monforte says he’s now talking to them.

She says the teens shot at each other and were found in different locations.

Witnesses in the area told investigators they heard multiple shots on Wednesday night.

The shooting remains under investigation.
