Karen E. Booher, 75, of Columbus, passed from this life at 2:11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2017 at her home.

Mrs. Booher was born July 31, 1942, in Columbus, Indiana, the daughter of Oscar and Ruth Kobbe Baute.

Mrs. Booher was baptized September 8, 1942 and confirmed in May 1956 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Columbus, Indiana.

Mrs. Booher was a 1960 graduate of Columbus High School and graduated August 3, 1961 from Indiana Business College. In 2000, at the age of 57, Mrs. Booher received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Indiana Wesleyan College.

Mrs. Booher was blessed with many employment opportunities in her life including the following: Irwin Union Bank, Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, Columbus (Salin) Bank, Bartholomew County Hospital, and the Fair Oaks Mall. She retired in 2005 after 13 years of service as a web designer at Cummins Engine Company.

She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church where she had been the church secretary for many years.

Mrs. Booher cherished the time she spent with her family and grandkids and she was a member of the Wolfcreek Ski Club. Some of her hobbies included volleyball, flowers, swimming, and reading.

Mrs. Booher is survived by her husband of 55 years, Tom, whom she married March 17, 1962; her son, Jeff Booher and his wife, Mary of Columbus, Indiana and his step-sons, Brian Hanson (Jen) and Kevin Hanson (Jeanette); her son, Steve Booher and his wife, Lisa of Carmel, Indiana and his children, Cory (26), Kylee (21), and Collin (19) and his step-children, Maddie, Kenzie, and Adam Ellery; her daughter, Amy Lienhoop and her fiance, Tom Stewart of Columbus, Indiana and her children, Jordan (24), Kaitlin (23), and Jacob (15); and her brother, James (Jeanne) Baute.

Mrs. Booher was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dale Baute; and her favorite son-in-law, Scott Lienhoop.

The funeral will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Riordan officiating.

Family and friends may call from 3 p.m. until service time Monday at the church.

The committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Section 63 at Garland Brook Cemetery.
