KINSTON, N.C. — Police in North Carolina have rescued five dogs from a fighting operation and arrested a man they say was running it.
The Kinston Police Department said Monday that officers responding to a call on Saturday went to a house where they found two injured dogs and a wooden dog fighting ring. As officers approached the home, a crowd fled into the adjacent woods.
The two injured dogs were treated at an animal hospital, with one of them getting 48 staples to the face and neck for its wounds. Three other dogs that weren’t injured were also seized.
Police arrested 40-year-old Hal Tyler Jr. and charged him with felonious dog fighting. He’s in the Lenoir County jail under a $15,000 secured bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
