Designer for Indiana festivals speaking today

Harshal Keskar, a long-time Columbus resident who has played a pivotal role in art design for numerous Indian festive events in the community, will speak during today’s #drinkingaboutdesign event, 5:30 p.m. at the Columbus Upland Pump House, 148 Lindsey St.

Combining vision and design, he leads the Columbus Ganesh Utsav Mandal’s decoration team in creating a tableau each year that portrays art, culture, social ideas and historical events. This acts as the centerpiece during Omkar, the Ganesh festival celebration in Columbus, which is meant to bring the community together while staying within its traditional roots.

Keskar will share insights on the planning and design aspect, drawing from experience with the festival, which since 2005 has become the largest of its kind in Indiana.

The ongoing meetup, #drinkingaboutdesign, was created to engage the community and connect fans of good design with some of the people who make Exhibit Columbus happen.
