George E. Pifer II

George E. Pifer II, 68, of Brown County, Indiana, passed from this life at 2:10 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Pifer was born June 1, 1949, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Phillip and Opal Jean Ferguson Pifer.

Mr. Pifer was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He served as a medic and he was awarded three Purple Hearts, one Bronze Star, and a Bronze Star with Valor.

He attended the Akron School of Nursing.

Mr. Pifer was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and was a past president of the local Alcoholics Anonymous Chapter in Columbus.

Some of Mr. Pifer’s hobbies include reading, woodworking, fishing, and tending to the farm.

Mr. Pifer is survived by his wife of 30 years, Teresa L. Daum Pifer, whom he married February 3, 1987; his children, Robert and Amber Pifer of Ohio, Brooke Pifer of West Virginia, and Nicholas Pifer of Elkhart, Indiana; his stepdaughter, Erin Marshall and her husband, Jason Sutton of Denver, Colorado; several grandchildren; nieces, Amanda Bard and Naomi Daum; a nephew, Titan Daum; and three great-nieces, Raina Bard and Alexandria and Vanessa Drake.

Mr. Pifer was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Tara Lynn Vogel.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Todd Riordan officiating.

Family and friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Military honors will be presented by the Indiana Army National Guard Honor Guard.

In keeping with Mr. Pifer’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral service.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
