Firm will stripe road

The city has approved hiring a Columbus company to stripe a 2 ½-mile stretch of Rocky Ford Road from Central Avenue to Talley Road.

The Columbus Board of Works on Tuesday agreed to hire AAA Striping Co. for $63,241. No other bids were received by the city, said Dave Hayward, executive director of public works/city engineer.

The striping work is dependent on the weather, but could begin soon, he said.

The $6.3 million Rocky Ford project, which began last year, is on track to be completed this year, with 80 percent of the cost funded by federal dollars, Hayward said. It will bring new curbs, storm sewers, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, he said.

Sidewalk work is wrapping up, with areas being prepared so trees and sod can be put into place, Hayward said.
