Melba E. Klosterman

DUDLEYTOWN

Melba E. Klosterman, 90, of Dudleytown, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

She was born on March 18, 1927 in Vallonia, Indiana, the daughter of Victor and Esther (Otting) Hackman, both of whom preceded her in death.

She graduated from Vallonia High School in 1945.

On December 1, 1946, she married Victor Klosterman at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vallonia.

Melba was a homemaker and worked along side her husband on the family farm. She was locally renowned for her delicious pies and was always available to put on a great meal.

Melba was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church at Dudleytown, where she served the Altar Guild, Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Lutheran Child and Family Services and the Funeral Committee.

Melba also served the Braille Workers Ministry.

She enjoyed playing euchre but her family and faith were the utmost part of her life.

She is survived by her children, Lois J. (Henry) Wischmeier, Allen E. (Janet) Klosterman, Leon K. (Kay) Klosterman; and Rhonda S. (David) Eggersman; 14 grandchildren, Susan (Jon) Schultz, Louis (Holly) Wischmeier, Lori (James) Wischmeier, Andrew (Rachel) Klosterman, Cindy (Charles) Hobson, Matthew (Kelly) Klosterman, Beth (Steve) Wischmeier, Connie (Jeff) Stahl, Amy (Clint) Hackman, Jill (Chad) Price, Kim (Jacob) Florine, Jordan (Mariah) Eggersman, Evan Eggersman, Cameron Eggersman; three step-grandsons, Doug (Sue) Wischmeier, Greg (Lisa) Wischmeier and Max (Barbie) Wischmeier; 29 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; five step-great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Alvin and Charles (Laverne) Hackman; and sister- in-law, Mary Hackman.

In addition to her parents and husband, her daughter, Linda K. Wischmeier; two sons-in-law, Jack Schafstall and Waldo Wischmeier; brother, Paul Hackman; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hackman and Leona Stahl, and brother-in-law, Amos Klosterman, preceded her in death.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Philip Bloch officiating at Emanuel Lutheran Church. Visitation will held from 3 until 8 p.m. at Burkholder Funeral Chapel on Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
