Robert J. Nicholson, 93, of Venice, Florida, passed away Monday October 23, 2017.
He was born March 8, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Bob was a veteran of U.S. Navy during World War II and a graduate of Indiana University’s School of Business.
He was the owner of Bob Nicholson Appliance.
Bob and his beloved wife, Shirley, retired to Venice, Florida, in 1981 from New Albany.
He was a member on the Shriners, Kiwanis, Better Business Bureau, Louisville Chamber of Commerce and President of the New Albany Chamber of Commerce.
Bob served two terms on the board of trustees at The Village On The Isle and was devoted to the Meals on Wheels organization with 22 years of service. He was also a charter member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church of Venice, Florida.
He is greatly missed by his wife of 70 years, Shirley; grandchildren, Nathan (Jamie) Nicholson of Sellersburg, Landon (Amy) Nicholson of Simpsonville, Kentucky and Sashlyn Mandzo of LaGrange, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Liam and Leila Mandzo and Emeri and Logan Nicholson.
Bob was preceded in death by his son, Randal Nicholson; and great-granddaughter, Mia Mandzo.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 30, 2017 at The Village On The Isle Renaissance Room One, 920 Tamiami Tr. S, Venice, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to The Village on the Isle Memory Care Unit, 920 S. Tamiami Tr, Venice, FL 34285.
Arrangements were made in Port Charlotte, Florida.
