Crusaders fall in quarterfinals

DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian won its first match in National Association of Christian Athletes Division II volleyball tournament Friday before falling in the quarterfinals.

The eighth-seeded Crusaders beat ninth-seeded Carroll Christian (Westminster, Maryland) 22-25, 25-23, 17-15. Columbus Christian then fell to No. 1-seed Providence Athletic Club (Columbia, South Carolina) 13-25, 25-18, 15-3.

Savannah Herron and Mayah Schundelmeier each pounded 15 kills, Sabrina Herron recorded 28 assists, Sabrina Herron notched 16 digs and Savannah Herron served seven aces to lead the Crusaders (19-10-1). Savannah Herron and Hannah Stair each had 13 digs, and Sabrina Herron added six aces.

Columbus Christian, which won the NACA Division III title last season, moved up to Division II after going 2-3-1 in pool play Wednesday and Thursday.
