OXNARD, Calif. — Authorities say three people were killed when the vehicle they were in slammed into a palm tree in Southern California.

Police say the single-vehicle crash occurred around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in Oxnard.

Television news footage showed a fallen tree and a crumpled vehicle.

KCBS-TV reports two people died at the scene and the third died at a hospital.

Streets were closed as police investigated the circumstances of the crash.
