JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police have arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting his girlfriend and wounding her sister.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda said in a news conference that 32-year-old Chad Olan Absher was arrested on Wednesday after a citizen called in a tip.

Police say Absher is a suspect in the killing of 30-year-old Christina Ashlee Rucker and the wounding of her sister, 28-year-old Lisa Rucker. Police say the three got into an altercation before the shooting occurred.

Bujeda said Absher surrendered after a conversation with officers.

Family members told the Florida Times Union that Christina Rucker was in a long-term abusive relationship with Absher.

Absher and Christina Rucker had an 8-year-old son, who police say witnessed the violence.
