Man hurt in U.S. 31 wreck

A Taylorsville man is listed in critical condition after a two-vehicle accident at North U.S. 31 and West Marketplace Drive in Edinburgh.

Bartholomew County sheriff deputies said Jeremy Osborne, 40, Taylorsville, was driving south on U.S. 31 near Marketplace Drive in a 2014 Chrysler 300 when his vehicle rear-ended a Toyota 4-Runner driven by Bruce Beadle, whose age was unavailable, of Benton, Illinois.

Osborne was unconscious and trapped inside his burning vehicle when an unidentified off-duty police officer and a tow truck driver stopped to assist, deputies said.

The tow truck driver put out the fire while the police officer entered the vehicle and removed Osborne, deputies said.

Osborne was unresponsive and was flown by LifeLine to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was listed Tuesday in critical condition, deputies said. Beadle was not injured, deputies said.

Assisting Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputy Adam Warner at the scene were officers from the Indiana State Police, Edinburgh police and Taylorsville volunteer firefighters.
