RUTLAND, Vt. — A Vermont man accused of waving a gun at another driver during a road rage incident has pleaded not guilty.

The Times Argus reports 24-year-old Nathan Carroll, of Brandon, pleaded not guilty Monday to a misdemeanor charge of attempted assault by menace.

Police say on June 30 they received a report from a driver in Poultney claiming another motorist had threatened him. Authorities say the driver told police he was turning into a driveway to deliver a meal when a driver yelled at him, waved a gun and sped off.

Police got the vehicle’s license plate and later found Carroll. Authorities say they recovered a pistol from Carroll.

Authorities say Carroll has maintained he never pointed the gun at the other vehicle.
