Betty D. Livesay

COLUMBUS, INDIANA

Betty Darnell Livesay, 96, of Columbus, IN, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2017 in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

Betty was born on May 23, 1921 in Hancock County, TN, the daughter of George W. and Sarah Elizabeth (Bowen) Horton, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Hubert R. Livesay on October 13, 1941 in Harlan, KY. He preceded her in death in 1972.

She was a charter member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church in Brownstown. Betty was a member of the French Lick Order of the Eastern Star #249. She worked for 20 years at Travelers Radio Plant in Orleans as an assembler and served as a foster grandparent for Brown School for over 20 years. Betty lived a simple life, loving her church, family and watermelon.

She is survived by her son, Merle D. (Karen) Livesay; grandchildren, Dennis R.(Lauren) Livesay, Chris S.(Lisa) Livesay and Brittany D. (Matthew)Diebolt; 6 great-grandchildren; Nathan Livesay, Emma Livesay, Kaden Livesay, Max Livesay, Nolan Diebolt and Haley Diebolt; and a sister, Pearl Johnson, of TN.

In addition to her parents and husband, Hubert, an infant son, Raymond, brothers; Dan, William, Grant, Henry and Charles Horton and sisters; Jane Gibson, Lillie Holt, Ruth Arrington, Stella Trent, Glenna Trent, and Phyllis Harrison.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Jewell officiating at Burkholder Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown, IN.
