Volunteers sought for financial literacy events

The Bartholomew County Financial Literacy Coalition is seeking volunteers to run booths for events scheduled at two middle schools.

The coalition’s Reality Store is planned for Thursday at Central Middle School and also Oct. 16 at Northside Middle School. Volunteers are needed to work from 7:45 to 11:45 a.m. or from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Reality Store puts eighth-grade students in different financial scenarios. They learn how to open a checking account, and also how much of their income needs to be spent on housing, utilities, insurance, groceries, student loans and other expenses, according to the coalition.

Individuals interested in signing up as a volunteer can register by visiting bemoneystrong.org/need-help/volunteer-registration.
