EDMONDS, Wash. — Police are investigating after two black workers found a noose at a construction site in Edmonds.

The Daily Herald reports the incident happened Oct. 26 near the Point Edwards condominiums.

Edmonds Police Department Sgt. Shane Hawley says the workers found a noose tied over a beam.

Hawley says the finding was reported on Friday and it remains under investigation.

A statement from the contractor, Venture General Contracting in Seattle, said the company strictly prohibits workplace harassment and racial intolerance “and in no way condones this offensive action.”

Mayor Dave Earling called the most recent incident “abhorrent and offensive.”

Police say earlier this year someone painted swastikas on parked cars in Edmonds. A man was arrested in July in connection with one of the incidents.
