Colts collecting old cellphones

Indianapolis Colts fans and visitors to Lucas Oil Stadium are asked to donate their no-longer-used cellphones and wireless accessories at Sunday’s game for a special HopeLine collection to benefit domestic violence victims.

HopeLine from Verizon turns the donated items into support for domestic violence organizations and programs.

Wireless phones and accessories, in any shape from any carrier, may be donated from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. outside the stadium, where up to 30 volunteers will assist in collecting them. The fan donations made at Sunday’s game will directly benefit survivors of domestic violence who live in transitional housing at Coburn Place in Indianapolis.

On Sunday, Verizon will deliver a $26,500 grant to Coburn Place, which includes a contribution from the Colts.
