Deborah M. Riggs

EDINBURGH

Deborah M. (Dewey) Riggs, 57, lifelong resident of Edinburgh, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at her residence.

She was born January 13, 1960 in Columbus, to the late James and Bernice (Lawhorn) Dewey.

She married Michael E. Riggs, and he survives.

She attended Edinburgh High School.

She was a loving homemaker. She enjoyed crafting, antiquing, watching the cooking channel and HGTV.

She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Michael E. Riggs of Edinburgh; sons, David Baker and Michael Baker (Tammie), daughter Jewell Fields (Daniel) — all of Edinburgh; stepdaughter, Charity Carter of Martinsville; sisters, Sherry Rubish of Edinburgh, Lisa Dewey of North Vernon and Jamie Debaun of Bloomington; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bernice (Lawhorn) Dewey; daughter, Rhiannon Baker; stepson, John Riggs; and a brother, David Dewey.

The Rev. Lewis Burton will conduct a service at noon Thursday, November 9, 2017 at the Who So Ever Will Community Church, 6235 Eisenhower Drive, Edinburgh, where friends may call from 10 a.m. on Thursday until service time at the church.

Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, is handling arrangements.
