Joanne Rowene Middleton Thompson, 93, passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Columbus on Nov. 8, 2017.
Joanne was born in 1924 to John and Rowene Middleton, and later married Vernon Thompson and had six children.
She was a loving homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children and witnessing for Jesus.
In her latter years she split her time living between Alabama and Indiana.
Her love of Jesus was followed closely by her devotion to her family. She will be remembered best for her kindness and compassion for others.
She was an avid reader who loved birds, elephants and other animals.
Joanne is survived by her sister, Laura Downing; loving children, John (Connie) Thompson, Betty Crawford, Joyce (Tim) Carter and Becky (Darell) Wade; grandchildren, Wendy, Chris, Morgan, Haley, Kim and Julie; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; in-laws; and family pets.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rowene Middleton; husband, Vernon; daughter, Kathy; son, Mark; and three sisters, Amy, Nancy, and Lois.
The Memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 at 1 p.m., at 2809 N. Talley Rd., Columbus, IN 47203.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
