RENSSELAER, N.Y. — Authorities in upstate New York are investigating the cause of a fire at a butane distribution center.

WTEN-TV reports the fire at Apex Oil Company in Rensselaer started around 3 p.m. Thursday. Fire officials say the fire was close to a butane tank which could have caused an explosion.

The fire was contained in about 45 minutes. No explosions occurred and no one was hurt.

Rensselaer Assistant Fire Chief Jay Corcoran says the department is fortunate to have mutual aid companies that assist.

Traffic was diverted while crews got the blaze under control.

An investigation continues.
