RENO, Nev. — Nevada safety Dameon Baber has been named the Mountain West Conference’s defensive player of the week after returning two of his three interceptions for touchdowns and scoring a third on a blocked punt return in Nevada’s 59-14 win over San Jose State.

Baber returned one of the interceptions a school-record 100 yards for the touchdown on Saturday.

It’s the second in his career that the junior from Palmdale, California has logged three interceptions in a single game.

The three picks tied the Mountain West single-game record and marks the first time in league history anyone has recorded multiple games with three interceptions.

He’s also just the third player in NCAA history to score three TDs via returns. Houston’s Johnny Jackson did it in 1987 and Oklahoma’s Antonio Perkins in 2003.
