STRATFORD, Conn. — Police are investigating after a bartender was shot during an armed robbery in Connecticut.

Authorities say the robbery happened at BAR in Stratford around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Capt. Frank Eannotti says the male suspect entered the bar and demanded money from the bartender. Eannotti says the bartender complied and was shot once in the abdomen.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. Police say the victim has been transported to a local hospital where he is undergoing surgery.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact Stratford police.
