Heritage Fund awards $62,500 in Community Fund grants

Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County has awarded three Community Fund grants worth a combined $62,500 for programs that benefit Bartholomew County residents.

Each year, through community members’ donations and support, the Community Fund distributes about $500,000 to nonprofits through a competitive grant application process.

Grant recipients announced include:

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, $11,000 to upgrade a Tru-Narc Analyzer drug-testing device that allows officers to safely test for illegal and dangerous drugs. The grant is being used to upgrade a less expensive, limited-use version of the analyzer.

Developmental Services Inc., $26,500 to purchase therapeutic equipment and healthcare furniture to transform a program space for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities into a welcoming, comfortable multisensory environment.

IUPUC, up to $25,000 in bridge funding to hire a dedicated part-time staff member to design and implement programming for the benefit of women at IUPUC and in the community through the IUPUC Office of Women.
