Vectren Foundation donates to hurricane relief

The Vectren Foundation has committed $50,000 in financial aid to assist in the rehabilitation efforts continuing in hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico.

The funding will go to the American Red Cross through the Southwest Indiana chapter and is designated for disaster relief, company officials said.

In addition to Hurricane Maria relief, the foundation has pledged gifts as well as matched employee donations for relief for victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Factoring in the employee match, donations totaled more than $150,000 and were distributed to the United Way of Greater Houston and Interfaith of the Woodlands for Hurricane Harvey victims, and the American Red Cross for Irma victims.

Vectren, headquartered in Evansville, provides gas and/or electricity to more than 1 million customers for about two-thirds of Indiana and 20 percent of Ohio, primarily in the west-central area. For more, visit vectren.com.
