Josh Major, Columbus East senior football player

Major carried seven times for 124 yards and three touchdowns and completed 6 of 7 passes for 118 yards and a score in Friday’s 49-18 regional win against Terre Haute North.

His performance last week: “I feel like we executed the way we wanted to on offense. Defense played well, and special teams, so all three phases of the game, we played really well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I just watch a lot of film and listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite book: “Where the Red Fern Grows”

Favorite class: “Finite math”

Role model: “My dad (Mark Major)”

Best advice: “Coach (Bob) Gaddis always says, ‘You can’t worry about the play ahead, and you can’t play the one behind you. Just focus on the next one.’”

Athletics goal: “To win state”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Hawaii, because I love going to the beach.”

Addy Galarno, Columbus East senior basketball player

Galarno led the Olympians with 18 points in the Olympians’ 53-47 win against Bloomington South. She also recorded six rebounds, two assists and four steals.

Her performance last week: “It’s good getting the win, but I think we were all disappointed with the way we played, so there’s a lot of room for improvement. But overall, we’re happy to be 2-0.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Usually, we just listen to music.”

Favorite drink: “Gatorade”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite book: “The Divergent Series”

Favorite class: “My biomedical innovations class”

Role model: “My brother (Logan), and my sister (Ashton)”

Best advice: “Play every moment like it’s your last because you never know when it’s going to be over.”

Athletics goal: “To win sectional and make it far in the postseason”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Australia, because I’ve heard it’s really nice there and pretty with a lot of different animals.”
