Brian’s picks – November 16

1) Your free time this weekend can go to the dogs — and other critters, for that matter. The Doggone 5K Fun Run (or Walk) occurs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ceraland Park, 3989 S. County Road 525E in Columbus. Columbus East High School student Lillian Wilson will host the second annual event to benefit the Adoption Medical Fund of Columbus Animal Care Services. Participants arrive at 9 a.m. to sign in or register. The walk starts promptly at 10 a.m., and you still may be able to walk a pooch from Animal Care Services. 2) With slightly more than five weeks remaining, you can start thinking about all things Christmas — and the Columbus City Band is willing to help. The volunteer ensemble will present the free concert, “Sounds of the Season and Christmas Classics,” at 2 p.m. Nov. 26 at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in Columbus. The group regularly presents tunes and arrangements unique to local musical groups. Information: columbuscityband.org.
