PORTLAND, Maine — Portland, Maine, police say a body found this week was that of a man who’d been struck by a car two months earlier.

The medical examiner’s office concluded that 57-year-old Edward Blumenthal died from blunt trauma consistent with being hit by a car or truck.

His body was found Tuesday near the Fore River by a utility worker.

Blumenthal had been reported missing in September. He was last seen alive on the evening of Sept. 9, and his cellphone was active until Sept. 10. It was found with his body.

The investigation continues. Police are encouraging anyone who may have knowledge about the case to contact them.
