Wittenberg setter Karen Wildemann has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association first-team All-America for Division III.

The junior from Columbus North was named MVP of last weekend’s Great Lakes Regional in leading the Tigers to an Elite 8 appearance. Top-seeded Wittenberg opens Elite 8 play at 5:30 p.m. today against No. 8-seeded Swarthmore at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Wildemann has recorded 899 assists (9.8 per set), 215 digs and 121 kills this season. She was named to the All-North Coast Athletic Conference and the All-Great Lakes Region first teams.

“Karen has worked very hard to achieve this honor,” Wittenberg coach Paco Labrador said in a news release. “She is a very driven competitor and natural leader. As a 4.0 student, she has found a way to strike the perfect balance of commitment to her team, and excellence in the classroom. I couldn’t be prouder of Karen.”
